The Reconstruction Amendments are made up of three amendments 13,14,and 15. These amendments were during the reconstruction times after the Civil War. The reasons the amendments were established were to give slave rights. The 13th amendment is talking about how slavery is abolished or service you are forced to work for the only time this is acceptable is a prisoner punished for a crime. The 14th amendment explains that anyone born in the U.S is a citizen no matter what color and that every citizen deserves their rights. The 15th amendments explains that every citizen gets to vote no matter what color or race. These amendments were important because this gave slaves their freedom and rights. The 13 amendment also unified the North and the South. This also help the legal system advance to other actions. The reason the 13th amendment was passed because the people thought that the Emancipation Proclamation was just a temporary war treaty and it was also passed by Republicans . It was passed December 6th 1865. Its states  “Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.”( Originally the senate that passed the amendment was suppose to pass it April 1864, but the House of Congress didn’t pass it until later to December 1865.
