The internet has changed our social life. Instead of social media to connect with friends, you would have to either mail letters back and forth or visit them to chat. The internet also changes how we shop or booked a vacation.
The internet has not been around for a long period of time to the public. Robert E. Kahn is the “stepfather” of the internet (“Gina Smith, Unsung Inventors: Robert Kahn, the “Stepfather” of the internet). Kahn would say, “If I said I did invent the internet, I’d likely end up in a cartoon somewhere” which he saying basically he does not want to credit himself for the invention. The original form of the internet was used by the government in 1969 which was called ARPANET which stands for Advanced Research Projects Agency Network.
The initial purpose was to communicate with and share computer resources among mainly scientific users at the connected institutions. Robert Kahn and Vint Cerf found the Transmission Control Protocol for short TCP. The TCP are sets of rules that govern the delivery of data over the Internet or other networks that use the Internet Protocol. Also, sets up a connection between the sending and receiving computers.
The first computer that needed the internet were timeshare computers. A timeshare computer is a computer environment that supports multiple users simultaneously. There was 12 website existed at that time. In 1989 a British scientist named Tim Bernes-Lee invented the World Wide Web for short (WWW). Tim released the web to the public and at the time the web was “The web was originally conceived and developed to meet the demand for automatic information-sharing between scientists in universities and institutes around the world. The original format of an email was from one user to another user computer.
The first email host service where you could email from one computer to another one is called Mailcity. The next version of the internet is web 2.0 which is known as the social media era. In this era, social media were invented. During web 2.
0 there was twenty-five website that existed for the public to use. The web changed from web 1.0 to web 2.0 in 1999. The coding back then was very complex.
The first big social media was developed in 2003 called MySpace. MySpace is a way to make new friends and connect with friends. Also, it is a way to share music, blogs and have a live chat with random people. A year later a twenty-year-old college student named Mark Zuckerberg created a massive social media network called Facebook. When Facebook was invented it was a way to reach to your college mates.
The only to get a Facebook account was with your college emails with @edu. Facebook changed since this time and now everyone could have an account after you hit a certain age.The current version of the internet is web 3.0. The internet changed so much and today is the internet is safe anymore. The web is safe but it depends on the person who is using it appropriately.
It comes to the person who is the web the correct way or in a bad way. There are safe ways and bad ways to the use the internet. This version of the internet changed in 2009. With web 3.0 the major breakthrough is Artificial Intelligent. So what is Artificial Intelligent? AI is short for Artificial Intelligent is the theory and development of computer systems able to perform tasks that normally require human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and translation between languages. The biggest AI is the google car. The biggest problem that we face with AI is that people will be jobless.
AI is helping out a lot since they can do a task for an unlimited time without breaks. In the long term, it is cheaper since less chance of error, no salary. The only cost will be the price of the robot and maintenance fees.
AI has to be safer than human which has proven works much better. It has been proven well by the Google Car. With the Google Car, you will not have a driver texting while driving, no drunk driving or tired drivers. Also, web 3.0 is known as the 3D era. The 3D era is the virtual element with 3D web browsers. The web merged with other forms of entertainment so like television and radio. Net neutrality has been a big topic for the last couple of years.
Net neutrality is a principle for the internet providers should enable access to all content and applications regardless of the source, and without favoring or blocking particular products or websites. On December 14th, 2018 the FCC which stands for Federal Communications Commission with a vote of 3-2 to repeal net neutrality. Net neutrality is an outdated term from the early 1980s. At that time it did not affect the internet it was controlling telecommunications practice and regulation.
It was reintroduced with the internet in 2015. There is actually no pros or cons if it goes away or stays. It would not affect our daily lives on the internet since before 2015 the internet was the same way with net neutrality since the internet was not slow or paid for on different sites. If you feel like you want some protection if anything use a Virtual Private Network for short VPN which means “Is a network that is constructed using public wires, usually the Internet, to connect remote users or regional offices to a company’s private, internal network” according to webopedia.
VPN is a private secured network where no one can track what are you doing. You can get a VPN for any type of devices. Could you even imagine how the internet will be like in ten years from now. With a rapid rate of technology how will the internet be.
